My 240 is running GREAT around town. That is normally where I use it, take kids to school, back and forth from work, no problems.
But, when I drive 100 or so miles on the expressway, and then pull off the interstate, the car will hardly idle at a stop light. It's fine when I first pull off, but soon after, it's starts to miss, and gets a lot worse when I have to stop at a light. It's a little better if I put the car in drive. Car is FINE on highway, though probably not getitng the mileage I should be getting. Was overcooling when going over about 70MPH, but I think that was probably thermostat, which I replaced already. (Haven't had it back on the road yet, and I wonder WHY it would only overcool when going over 70MPH. Could be fan clutch I guess, but back to real problem (rough idle when fully warmed.)
When I get to destination, let car cool off completely, it's good to go again, no miss, lots of power, etc... until I get back on the road again (and pull off).
Do I have a bad coil? What is a 'coil pack'--something on each injector?
I think maybe the coil or something is starting to fail, only acting up when it gets really hot.
Also, I have a weird problem still with my distributor. Seems OK as far as play, etc.. goes, but it's firing on the side of the terminals.
Are these two problems related? I am a bit leery of just pulling the distributor and reseating it a few degrees counterclockwise. Computer is actually setting timing, rotor is wide to fire (on terminal) at a varitely of retard settings, but mine appear to be off totally.
***PICTURES IN NEXT POSTING.*** (Sorry, I didn't quite understand this at first, this is my first time posting with pictures.
Thanks,
