Wiring Harness 200

I have been told by "tech service" my local mechanic uses for technical info to get rid of my 89 240 with 150,000 miles due to problems with wiring harnesses on these cars. I was having my AC worked on and replacing all but the compressor. Is it a problem and if it is what cost is involved changing the harness?
