Brake adjustment early 544 444-544

I am doing a brake job on my -58 544 for the first time. This one is an early 544, chassis no 203 606. As brakes changed from chassis no 207 xxx, the brakes on my car are probably the same as for the late 444's.

Problem is that I am familiar only with the lates model brakes when it comes to adjustment, and my repair manual only shows the late type of brakes. Does anyone have a good way to explain how to adjust these brakes, or (best) the possibility to mail or post the pages from a repair manual for late 444's?

Another thing: I have so far only opened on both rear wheels. I have had some grinding noise on rear left when braking hard lately, and I thought that this could be worn down brake linings. This was not the case, linings are in good shape. However, there is a central hole in the front lining where something (looks like some kind of adjustment device comes through, and on this side it has started to touch the drum when braking. Luckily drum has not been damaged. Any hint why this has happened?
