NEW CAR and quite a good trip to the wreckers today 200

Hi All,

I have bought myself another volvo, I can't help it they are so cool. Here is a pic:

It is a 79 242GT and is sweeeeeet.

The black anodized early aluminium bumpers (they were anodized black at the factory for the GT's) are OK but I much prefer the much smaller and lighter later bumpers. To that end I visited the wrecker today and had a good fosic around and came away with a lot more than expected.

I ended up spending a good part of the day there and came away with these gems:

- front complete bumper and spoiler (incl. bumper shocks) plus all the trim pieces
- rear complete bumper
- a METAL front debris/sump guard that replaces the factory plastic thing that is forever snapping
- front lower door hinges (the spring thing has broken in the originals, as it always seems to)
- door latch and striker, the originals aren't shutting as 'crisply' as they used to.
- replacement boot latch mechanism, same as doors, it isn't shutting as crisply as it is meant too.
- lockable fuel cap
- oh and I almost forgot, an almost perfect condition alloy wheel (same design as the original ones) so now I have a complete set of 5.

How much did I pay?????

100 AUSTRALIAN dollars, which is about US$75.

I am happy! now I will spend tomorrow cleaning them up and swapping them over I will show some pics when I am done.
