Thats at least odd. Are you sure the timing marks line up? 8 degree sounds like it might be one tooth of.
If they do line up: do you have the fiber cam gear? Perhaps the gear has shifted on its core a little bit (not unlikely at all..)
Other then that, it must be a mis-machined timing gear or cam.
