A/C Compressor 900 1993

Dear ticktock,

Good a.m. and may this find you well. It sounds to me, as if one or more solder joints between the relay - and/or between the main connector - and the circuit board, have failed. The break(s) may be microscopic.

You'll need to remove the CCU from the car, and re-flow the solder on these joints. The relay has four pins (contact points) with the circuit board. The main connector has 12 or 14 pins. I'd use a 25-watt soldering iron. You need touch it to the joint for 1-2 seconds, just long enough, for the solder to liquefy.

I emphasize that you should do all four pins on the relay, and all 12 or 14 pins on the main connector, as the failed joint may be invisible to the unaided eye.

If this does not restore operation, then the relay has failed. You may be able to get a replacement CCU at a salvage yard.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

spook
