Depends on the trim level.

If your 760GLE is a turbo, then the factory engine (B230FT) was also used in 740 Turbo's and a direct swap of a used motor from a 740T should not cause any problems. Some 740GLE's were also available with a 16-valve B234F, and if this is what your 760GLE was equipped with at the factory, then it is also a direct swap. The only situation where I can see there being a problem in terms of emissions is if somebody dropped a B230F (normally aspirated, 8-valve) in place of a B230FT or B234FT. If nothing else, the car would fail the visual inspection.

The sixth and seventh digits of your VIN number tell you which engine this car had at the factory. 86 or 87=B230FT, 88=B230F, and 89=B234F.
