Oil leak questions 200

The 1984 245 TI that I just bought seems to leave some oil drops on my driveway. I have yet to chage the oil on it, but I really want to find/ fix the leak before I start running synthetic oil in it. I found that the car has an off brand of filter and that there is a nice drop of oil that is on the oil temp wire that goes into the oil drain plug. I also seriously doubt that the last person who changed the oil repalced the copper washer. So, if it is not hte washer and there is oil on the wire on the oil plug where would it be coming from? I felt around the oil filter and it did not feel to bad, so I'm slightly concearned of something more major. Thanks for any information and happy bricking.
