Clunk? 200

What kind of 'clunk'? My M46 'clunks' into reverse sometimes, usually when the reverse detent plate needs adjusting or the clutch cable is slightly out of adjustment. Clunking when accelerating in overdrive could be the rear trailing arm bushings, but you said that it 'clunks' when you shift into reverse?

Whining in the forward gears might be a bad input shaft bearing. Replacement of the same is on par with a clutch job in terms of labor.

This tranny may still have some life left in it.
