structural expanding foam in side rails 120-130

I have a 67 122s i'm working on, but this question is really for a 67 Saab Sonett I'm keeping on the side.(is this legal on the brickboard?) The car has two side structural cavities (rails) running along the length of the car. They have some rust damage in the ends and a little along the bottom of one. I was toying with he idea of spraying in some expanding structural foam to create a more stable rail.
I can imagine all the possible problems with doing this, traping in moisture being one....but has anyone used an expanding structural foam for this kind of application? and did it work? On this particular model, this cavity does not contain drain holes...it looks like water was never designed to pass through it.
