Found - Seals for Rear Swing Out Windows 120-130

The many responses to my search for the subject seals confirmed that these seals are just not available. However, one of the queries I sent paid off. I found a set of rubber seals for the rear swing out windows that look like they have never been installed. They do show some signs of age.

Some of the initial responses mentioned "the glycerin trick". Please tell me more. For years I have used Armor-All on all rubber seals and vinyl and have been pleased with the results. Is glycerin better?

By the way, I found the seals in nearby Kempten (Germany) where Reinhard Klingler has a small warehouse. He sells various parts for vintage Volvos. Over the years he has also focused on rechroming parts like the swing out windows, grills and many other things for the PV 444, 544, and Amazon. He has had success rechroming some die cast parts such as handles, etc. that most rechromers shun.

Reinhard recently had the good fortune of buying out stock of a very old Volvo dealer and is in the process of bringing it to Kempten. At present his warehouse is nearly full with boxes of parts stacked every where. I felt like a kid at Christmas. I did see a lot of hard to find used parts like rear window trim, grills, hub caps, etc. In addition, he has several transmissions, OD, and is picking up 10 engines to be rebuilt. Sorry, I got the only rear swing out window seals. SCANDCAR still has a used set for sale.

I know that some of the readers are in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Denmark, etc. If you get to southern Germany near the Bodensee (Lake Constance), a trip to Kempten in the Allgäu (Germany) might pay off. Reinhard’s email address is:

reinhard_klingler@yahoo.de

You can write to him in German or English. Thanks for all the good advice.

Jerry
