Oxygen Sensor: B230FD engine 900

Dear Fellow Brickboarders,

May this find you well. Is it the case, that only Bosch Oxygen Sensor 258 003 378 will work on a B230FD engine (model year 1994)?

I recall reading posts, in which it was claimed, that any Bosch Oxygen Sensor will work on a B230F/FD engine. One must re-use the factory-installed wiring connector and splice to it, the wires from the new sensor.

Is this correct: can any Bosch oxygen sensor be installed on a car with a B230FD engine, such that the sensor's signal will be accepted - and properly processed - by the Engine Control Unit?

Thanks for your help. I'm much obliged.

Yours faithfully,

spook
