POWER STEERING PUMP/ALTERNATOR 700 1991

I HAVE A 1991 VOLVO 740 NON TURBO, WHEN TURN MY WHEEL TIGHT MY DASH BOARD LIGHTS LIGHT UP. DURING THIS PAST WINTER SOMETIMES I HAD TO LET MY CAR WARM-UP A BIT BECAUSE OF THE POWER STEERING. I CAN TURN MY WHEEL BUT SOMETIMES IT CAN BE HAVE TO DO. I HAVE CHECK THE FLUID AND IT IS FINE. LAST NIGHT ALL THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS CAME ON AND MY CAR DIED. SO I WAS THINKING ONE THE ALTERNATOR HAS GONE BAD AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDS TO REPLACED. CAN ANYONE GIVE MY ANY IDEAS WHAT IS WRONG?
