Overheated engine update and some cylinder head questions 200 1990

Well I got my overheated car started. The engine does not sound to bad. It is surprisingly quite, though running a bit rough.Just going by sound alone, it appears the bottom half did not suffer any damage. The top half has the same sound it had before, a valve adjustment noise.I can smell exhaust gases through the overflow tank, so the head gasket is shot. The head will removed and checked for warpage.Should I go ahead and have the entire head rebuilt? New valves and such? What would be a fair price for a complete cylinder head rebuild? Although the water pump is only a year old should I relace it?Anything else while the head is off?TIA
Nelson
