940 help new here.

Having had three 945`s, including my present 945 T+ I would say the most important thing is to check the small rubber water coolant lines to the oil cooler at the base of the oil filter. Have seen several postings here about replacing them if any suspicion of aged lines. Did not do the check myself, had a severe incident myself with overheating last year due to leak, luckily I noticed it early and managed to stop in time before catastrophy. Sheer luck that engine survived. If you do the job, replacing the coolant lines, use a small socket wrench on the hose clips, using a screwdriver is really difficult due to restricted space.

Check radiator connections, if small leak, replace radiator-it is a fairly easy job. Radiator is a wear and tear object. I used a Volvo original, despite many suggestions here for alternatives, and I am happy with it.

Check water pump for leaks. Look from underneath, too.

If engine is noisy, lubricate belts with some water proof lubricant or replace them if worn. Tension them, but donīt overtension.

Also replace fuel filter. My wifeīs 945 was regularly serviced at a shop and should have had filter replaced. Obviously not so, ended up with filter rusting through, leaking gas. Luckily not far from home, so I could fix it myself.

Also, consider changing rotor cap and rotor arm and spark plug cables, so you know they are fresh. Take a look into rotor cap once a year and clean it out, or replace if many miles per year.

For all this consult the FAQs (see drop down under "FEATURES" on this board.

This became a longer list than I thought. Donīt feel dissuaded, right now you only need to do the first point.

Gustafkalle.
