1991 745T - AC Compressor Cycling Question

Hi everyone,

The AC compressor in my 1991 745T spins freely, as does the clutch, but it does not cycle at all as of a few days ago.

The system only blows warm air. Am i to assume that the system is low on refrigerant? I would not think so, as it worked fine when the compressor was cycling.

Do 1991 models use R12 or R134a? Reason being, the "short" tube from the drier on the firewall has a fill tube in it, similar to that of the r134a conversion i did on my 1988 745.

Is it simply low on refrigerant?

I have never used the new controls for the heater/AC like this. I had the AC off pressed in and the clutch did not cycle as it should. I pressed it again, and the clutch cycled. All of this was when i first received the car. Now it does nothing as far as cycling.

Could it be the controls and not the compressor/refrigerant?

Dan
