My original dashboard was cracked and with big holes (previous owner fill it with newspapers and electrical tape). Three years ago I replace it with a hand made copy on corrofan (a synthetic leather) with plastic sponge (the one used on chairs) under it, it fit with the rest of the original upholstery (more exactly the ulphostery coming from another green amazon, the red amazon original upholstery was black, but totally shot on my case). It work:

Btw: Monthly I apply silicone leather cream on it. It is like leather shoes preventive maintenance. Also, I use sunshadows covers on the windsreens on summer when leave the car on the garage (on winter we have a lot of fog, no heavy sun rays, but the summer sun are Californian like here).
