Passed Emissions! Now I have hard steering ... 200 1987

The good news, "Grasshopper" with 229,000 miles passed emissions on second attempt. From a lean (high NOx) condition ...after a tune up, rebuilt distributor, cleaned IAC ... she got a "fast pass". I also took my '87 MAZDA B2000 today ... 210,400 miles and he FAST Passed also! GREAT DAY!

Now "Grasshopper" steers real hard. Belt to power steering is okay, power steering fluid okay ... FAQ suggests upper strut bearing? I've also read in my Haynes it may be ball joint ( I did replace the control arm and ball joint when I cracked it up about 6 months ago) I'm looking to solve the easier things before I think pump or rack.... Suggestions?
