Vacuum Advance (Again!) 120-130

A week or so ago there was a lively discussion, in which I was silly enough to say, "Some people prefer vacuum advance (over the mechanical type) - I don't know why." Of course, there were several people who were willing to point out my ignorance. My 122 seems fine with mechanical advance, but then I started to think - the car does have a slight hesitation when I try to rapidly accelerate. I always just thought it the nature of a car 40 years old with a 90 horse 4 cyl.
So, here's my question: What difference would I see if I switched to a vacuum advance distributor? Would it be a quicker response when I put the pedal to the metal?
