Help needed on electrical work 200 1986

This could be a problem with a deteriorating wiring harness. This can cause strange problems. I've had to replace the wires which run under the front pulley of the engine on three 240s. Others have replaced the entire harness $$$.

You could start by cleaning, lightly coating with silicone grease, and tightening all fuses and ground connections. Don't forget the blade type fuse in the fuse holder on the left fender near the battery and headlight hi-low relay. Do the same with the connections to the alternator.
