I knocked out my dash and clearance lights - likely culprits? 120-130

I've had my electrical system unhooked for a couple of weeks now as I assembled parts for an upgrade to a 55 Amp alternator (see my other posts).

While things seem to be working fine on that front, I somehow knocked out my clearance lights and my dashboard light. My headlights, signals, low/high beam, reverse, brake, and interior lights all work perfectly, but I have no instrument lights, nor do I have any clearance or license plate lights.

I've already felt around the back of the light switch (all connectors appear to be tightly secured). I've also check my master and auxiliary fuse box for lost fuses and all are fine. I've checked the wire connections under the hood and to the relays.

I've no idea what's going on here. If there was a general short someplace shouldn't I have lost another lighting system as well as a fuse? I know the bulbs are fine.

I know that wiring continuity should be checked, but before I break out my multimeter, is there a likely place to start? Somewhere where in the car this kind of failure happens frequently?
