Overdrive problem 740 GLE 700 1990

Hi, I have a problem with my overdrive, it will often times not shift into 4th. gear and the yellow arrow does not disappear after pushing the overdrive push button.
It used to do this about once a month but now it's almost every day. Sometimes it will shift after driving for a while and the arrow disappears. Sometimes after pushing the overdrive button endlessly it shifts as well.
Is this something I can have repaired at a Firestone or is it something only a Volvo expert can repair? How serious is this problem ($$$$).
