Volvo's with a 3rd seat

Nope, the cement truck wins everytime. The reinforcing kit keeps the top edge of the tail gate panel from cracking and coming loose from the tail gate itself. It is held in by four plastic clips that snap into four plastic holes, the plastic holes blow out and then the panel flops around. The reinforcing kit is a thin piece of sheet metal that you bend to fit around the piece that forms the plastic hole on the panel. The sheet metal has the same hole in it and the plastic clips now snaps into a metal reinforced plastic hole. They work pretty well at improving a poor design but even they are not perfect.
What happens is when the tailgate is slammed shut the force of it hammers on the plastic clip and hole set up and then the damn kids kick the panel when they are on the inside so the panel gets it from both ends. When you put all this together with the fact that it is Swedish plastic that gets brittle with age you have a recipe for an explodind tailgate panel.

P.S. watch out for cement trucks :)
