b21ft head differences 200 1984

I'm replacing the head on a 1984 242 with a b21ft. The old head was cracked between all the intake and exhaust valves. Got an new head from the salvage yard with the same head number stamped into the side, but was verey surprised to discover that the new head has threaded holes beneath the number one and number 4 intakes!

Why? How can I use this head after I have put some money into it? The machine shop said just to thread some short bolts in there.

thanks
