Is the speedometer in a 760 the same as 740 ? and can I adjust the odometer to the proper mileage ?

My speedometer sticks on 70 mph. On my 91 740 wagon. I have checked the sensor (its good) Resoldered cold joints (done) still sticks.
Is there a condenser or resistor that goes bad ?
I may buy a used spedo on Ebay. I have found a spedo for a 90 740 and a 90 760. They look the same. The mileage on the 760 is closer what is on my car. If I get the other one I would need to turn back the odometer it has about a hundred thousand more then what mine has on it (I don’t like that). I also checked on a rebuilt. Overseas wanted $275 (yikes) any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
