I swear my car felt lighter, nimbler today! After removing the rear seats -- faux leather/vinyl.

Maybe it was just noisier, though, which most of us confuse with power, speed. :-)

I made room to bring home our older daughter's goods from college.
1. Out went the rear seat bottoms. Easy, with pins to pull. (Reminder: grease)
2. Figured, for the first time, how to fight the backs' mounting pivot points to release them. Essence: heavy metal, and wood.

Results (approx., from bathroom scale, in lbs.):

left (wider 2/3) bottom 15
left (wider 2/3) back 28

right (narrower 1/3) bottom 10
right (narrower 1/3) back 18

total left seat 43
total right seat 28

total seat bottoms 25 <-- easier
total seat backs 46 <-- weightier

lbs. altogether 70 or more

Well, it FELT like more. :-)

I'll tell you, ALL this stuff goes next time I cruise to Texas from Minnesota some &^%&% winter. There'll still be a way for me to sleep in the back... I'll give it some thought.

Now to look at the collection of tools and such that can be lightened. :-)
