What's the 'CR' button on the CR-718 radio?

Thanks for the answer Evan.
Actually, I have tons of tapes, including CrO2, Metal and even the exotic FeCr. I thought about "CR" button switching to CrO2, but head unit display doesn't reflect that, i.e. you never know if it's in a CrO2 or normal mode. Maybe that's because I didn't try it with a CrO2 tape, I don't know. Will check it next time.
