Any EXPERIENCE with V/C Ignition CU Connector? 200 1987

My out-of-town son unplugged the connector while checking a potential ignition problem. I'm aware of the Bentley manual's dire warning, but suspect it may be over the top.

The problem was actually due to timing belt jumping several teeth at the crank pulley (my failure to retension the new belt?). Belt looked OK, so he reinstalled it yesterday.

It's running OK today, but he called to say it "hiccupped" a couple of times on the road. I asked him to watch the Tach if it does it again.

Any tips regarding that ICU connector? Are all pins sleeved, or was that just the early ones, as with hall sender plug? Is it really as critical as some say? Any special cleaning or lubing advice?
