Revenge of the A/C idle up solenoid 140-160 1972

Help!!!

I'd been given some tips here in recent weeks on addressing an A/C problem with my '72 164E....I was able to get a NOS solenoid, which seemed to be helping matters for a couple days (though I wasn't using the A/C much). But after a longer trip today--and hotter weather--the issue is back full force.

After driving for a while with the A/C on, the engine simply konks out in netural. After I realized it was happening, I turned the A/C off--there was some improvement, but especially after cruising at higher speeds and then coming to a stoplight, the idle was very uneven and would konk out sometimes (not every time) even when I had the A/C off. I used the parking brake and pumped the gas at stoplights to keep the idle up.

When I got the buggy back home the engine was sputtering but holding OK in neutral--I turned the A/C on and sure enough, it konked right out.

Any ideas? Since the solenoid is new, are there other components I should get checked out? Thanks...
