Hello Everybody.
I just picked up my first "brick" a few days ago off of ebay for $400 knowing that it would need some work done to the turbo. Its an 87 760 Turbo, with about 113k miles on it. I jumped in it, and headed for the rather slow ride back home. It'll accelerate briskly up until the turbo goes to kick in (according to the boost guage), but then as soon as it goes to kick in the car just stutters and doesn't move. Now if I feather the gas I can get it to move.
The trans is acting funny as well. The shift from 1-2 was rather abrupt, it felt as if it had to rev up higher than it should and stayh higher than it should until it shot into second, and then the shift up from 2-3 I'd have to rev it up a bit, let off the gas, then gently feather it to get to 3, and OD, ha, only if i was coasting downhill. Now, I'm hoping that all of this was just related to the turbo in some way, as it seems to be behaving slightly better now after I added a little bit of trans fluid, but I didn't get a chance to get out on the road.
I've skimmed through the FAQ sections, but I was wondering if I could get a pointer where to start looking for the cause of all this certain-to-be fun and entertainment. Or, should I just revel in the fact that nearly every power option works and just try to recoup some money for parts and then try to find another one? Thanks for any help you can provide.
