Typical car won't start 200

Well my 83 240 was running really fine until this morning - got in to start the car and it wouldn't turn over. The radio also lost its pre-sets.

I jumped the battery and it started right away but the battery and Lambda Sond warning lights flickered while the car was running. When I shut the car off, it will not even turn over again. Since the battery is only 1 year old , I'm guessing it's the alternator ? Any other places I should look other than the battery and alternator. Any quick shortcut tests I can run ?
BTW, This type of alternator has the voltage regulater built in. Thanks !
