How to recognise a B230F from a B230E 700 1987

Hi,

I'm looking into buying a '87 740 GLE. Thing is that the enine has been replaced by another used one (fried valves because of badly maintained while driving LPG). The LPG-system has been removed and the new engine has never run anything but regular gas.

I'm going to have a look on monday but I want to be sure what engine is in there (just to be sure they don't try to play one on me, also I'd like to know if I have to replace the timing belt - in case of an B230E- or not). So is there a fireproof way of telling one B230x from another?

TIA,

Dietbrand
