Electric Fan and Fuel Mileage (an update on the conversion) 200

Well I've done 726 miles and 3 tanks of gas since the electric fan conversion. It took 34.44 galons of fuel to do this which works out to almost exactly 21 mpg. For my car (modified with auto box) and my driving style this is very good. The average before the conversion was mid 19s, and I haven't seen a 21 mpg 3 tank average in town for years if ever. Whe you figure this car routinely sees 5 grand merging onto the freeways and is mid pack at 75-80+ this is darn good mileage. I don't exactly take it easy anywhere else either.

I've decided I'll keep the fan. I had my doubts before, but the fact that the car is so much smoother at cruse and idle, combined with the fuel savings I've changed my mind.

One other thing I like is the fan comes on after I shut it off and gets rid of the heat that builds up in the cooling system and under the hood. You got to figure that when a hot engine suddenly looses it's flow of cooling water there is a spike in the temperature. The fan comes on and runs for a few minutes to bring it back down to < 87ºC, probably a good thing for everthing under the hood.

The electric condensor fan will be put on this weekend if I have time so we'll see what impact that has on AC temps and mileage.
Have a good weekend all.
