Brake lights, reverse lights, turn signals all dead!!! 200 1984

1984 Volvo 240 GL 4spd w/ OD: Ever since I first got this car a few years ago the reverse lights have never worked. OK let me rephrase that. The reverse lights have worked randomly one or two times and it seems like everytime I get an inspection they work. So I have no real idea what the problem is there and probably never will. Just recently (2 weeks ago) though the brake lights have stopped working and won't work at all. I went in and changed out the fuses for both the reverse light and the brake lights (neither of which looked blown) and got 4 new bulbs to see if for some reason that would be the problem. Well still nothing has worked and then to top it all off on my way to work this morning the turn signals stopped working all together. They won't even flash on my dash indicators. So basically I am an accident waiting to happen and looking to see if anyone else has ever had a problem like this. I think I will bring it into the shop but I wanted to see if there is a sliver of a hope that its a simple fix that I can do myself. Hoping its not a relay but I am guessing most likely it is. Well any help would be awesome. Thanks

-Keith

Also I looked at the battery today and it looks pretty well shot. I am going to change that out soon and knowing next to nothing about cars didn't know if an old battery could be playing tricks like this.
