Blower Motor Starts on own while parked 900 1995

When I walked by our 940T in the driveway, I noticed the blower motor was on at highest speed. The key was not in the ignition. When I turned the speed selector knob, it made no difference. If I turn the ignition on and off, the motor stopped. Is this a normal function to cool off the interior?
