RE: 'Busted' shock tower on 240

Is this regarding the broken spring plate on the strut? If so just go to your friendly local junkyard & get a complete strut, probably won't be any more than $25 - $50, and put the whole assembly on. If you're worried about keeping your suspension matched, swap the spring & shock insert from your old one, but to just get back on the road all I did was put the entire thing on as I got it. There were so many other issues on the beast I did that to, that mismatched shocks weren't a concern. Shouldn't take you more than a couple of hours, and if you're lucky it'll come with the hub & good bearings. And make sure the strut mount bearing at the top of the strut is good, if not you'll have to get a spring compressor & an impact gun & swap it with your old one (assuming that one's good...) Biggest problem you'll encounter will be getting the brake lines off & opening the caliper bleeder screws. You might end up needing a caliper & new flex hoses.
