Alternator Pulley 200

If you don't have an impact gun I found it was possible to run an old drivebelt around the pulley and clamp the ends (of the belt) as they leave the pulley, in a vice.

Here I mean the pulley is held in a horizontal plane beside one end of the vice jaws, with the belt ends running the length of the jaws.

With a bit of adjustment - using the clamping of the vice jaws to tighten the belt around the pulley, there's enough grip to hold it and take the nut off with a spanner.

Just a note - in europe later (post 1999) Bosch alternators had a woodruff key on the alternator shaft and the nut is a different size.
