Threadjack - ITB racers 140-160

Actually, the Improved Touring rulebook tells you what can and cannot be removed in fair detail... but in any case, there is also a minimum weight (with driver) for each specific car in the class. For the Volvo 140, that minimum weight is 2640 lbs. The rules are also very specific about ballast; for instance, it must be bolted to the front passenger footwell. I'm not running any ballast, as my car *just* meets minimum weight. Basically the only items that have been removed are the headliner, all seats, floor mats and sound deadening; the trunk area is bare as well. Another area where we're a little lighter than stock would be the wheels... ours weigh about 14 lbs each. BTW, on the subject of wheels, the diameter and width of same is strictly limited to 15" x 6" for ITB.
