rotor replacement, -distributor is off-set keyed. 700 1990

Fitz - thank you - I would not mess around with the distr any more, trying to reverse it. But there is not hall sensor on the distributor. Where else should I look for the problem?
Tom thank you - rotor is indeed in 5 o'clock position when cyl1 at TDC.
I lifted up the engine to replace mounts and distributor got cracked against the firewall. Replaced distributor - car worked fine but would take some time to start - there is this grinding noise before it starts. I opened dist again to check whether everything is correct. Now there is only grinding noise - car would not start.
