So maybe a stupid question but please excuse my lack of car knowledge, I'm just starting to do my own work. I've been having charging problems and I know there isn't normally a need to replace the whole alternator but since I'm not the best at diagnosing problems I bought a rebuilt one and tried to put it in. The problem I ran into is the wiring connections on the back of the new one are different than the old one. It still has the 10mm bolt but the 8mm is now replaced by two, I believe they are called spade connectors. I don't know what the best thing to do is. I'm assuming I should just replace the wires anyways just in case the charging problem was due to a bad ground or something but thought you would all know best. Also which wires go to what connections (d+, b+). On the alternator I took off there was an extra little black connector running from one bolt on the alternator to another. That isn't the voltage regulator right? Should I put it back on the with the new one? The alternator I bought supposedly has an internal voltage regulator so then what is that black thing screwed on to the outside? A lot of questions and very few answers coming from me. I apologize if this is too elementary but I guess you have to start somewhere. If anybody can help me out that would be great. Thanks in advance.
