Threadjack - ITB racers 140-160

Thanks a BUNCH for sharing your setup! I love reading what's really going on... And seeing where that'll take me...

So metal bushings everywhere?! Like including in the front of the trailing arms? Wouldn't that hinder side to side movement of the axle that is required basically by the panhard rod when the suspension goes up and down? I guess being a race car the suspension doesn't compress as much as a street car would, but still...? And what may I ask are you using for front springs? And how tall are these springs? I have a set of 225lb 13" springs for the rear of my car and a set of 650lb and 600lb front springs that are 9" tall. I think I may be sitting a little high, as my car will be under the ITB spec weight limits(won't be an ITB car).

And about 140 vs 240, yes indeed, the 140 has a great advantage over the 240 right now with the A arm suspension and weight penalty, I didn't know about the weight distribution though and never really thought about the bumpers too much. My friends I think are going to be using the smaller lighter bumpers as far as I know. But, some of them were talking about writing a letter to the SCCA backed by multiple racers and written in a professional form stating the negatives of running a 240 in the hopes of getting them to lower the specified weight limit. We'll see if that ever happens(sending the letter anyway...).

And then I know another person locally who's building a 73 142 into an ITB car as well... Definitely a work in progress at the moment.
