rotor replacement, -distributor is off-set keyed. 700 1990

Just opened the inspection cover for the bell housing. Flywheel looks OK I guess - has theeth.
When I rotate the engine by hand I can hear metal sounds from the bell housing which would translate to ringing when the engine used to work.
I only changed the engine mounts and transmission mounts by lifting then using a wooden block over the jack. What could have gotten wrong?
When I rotate the engine counterclockwise I matal sound is still there but after some rotations the flywheel in the transmission stops rotating even though I am rotating the cranckshaft. Is that normal?
