Two female RF antenna cable connectors--how to connect? 200

I finally got my power antenna installed in the car and properly wired. However, I haven't actually hooked the RF/radio cable up yet--I can't.

Strangely enough, the cable from the radio has a female connector. That was fine for the manual antenna I had, which had a male plug. However, the power antenna I have--which came from a 1989 240 DL--has a female radio connector.

Firstly and mostly importantly, how can I get these connected? It seems like I just need two male plugs, connect them together, and plug them in. What is the type of plug used for the radio cable for an antenna? Is it a standard Motorola jack, and can I use the one that is found in Radio Shack? (I think that's what I saw there today.)

Secondly, what's the deal with two female ends? Did the 240s with factory power antennas have male plugs in the trunk, and those with manual antennas have female connectors? That doesn't make any sense to me, but neither do any of the other explanations I've considered for why there are two female leads in my trunk.

I guess the only other explanation that could work is that I didn't get some additional RF cable wiring from the antenna seller--I didn't get the electrical wiring for the antenna in a 240, so I suppose the person could also have left out any RF cable. However, as the exisiting wiring is more than long enough to connect the antenna, I don't see why Volvo would have included any additional length.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions for stores that might have antenna connectors and wiring, I'd appreciate them. Radio Shack suggested Advanced Auto Parts, which suggested Tweeter (car audio chain shop), which suggested Radio Shack. All of them claimed not to stock what I needed (though I think Radio Shack might have what I need). I'm getting a bit frustrated by the circular directions that are being set up here.
