Electrical problems sure can be annoying. I thought I had them all sorted out. All gremlins were eliminated. But (there's always a but, isn't there?)
The other night I pulled out of my parking space and drove to the corner. When I stepped on the brake, my instrument lights went out (and stayed out). On further inspection, my passenger rear light was out also. The 8 amp #16 Fuse (R Parking Lamp, Instrument and Panel Lamps) was out. I wiggled the wires, checked everything, blew another fuse. I disconnected the wiring harness to the rear deck to disconnect the center brake lite (which works)make sure that wasn't shorting.. no change.
My brake lights work perfectly. My lights work perfectly. But at night with my lights on and I depress the brake, it blows the fuse.
I did have a problem with this # 16 fuse about a month ago. I had switched over the broken center brake console to an older version without the cutouts for the heated seats. I just left the wires for the heated seats dangling, and within a couple of days, an exposed section of the hot lead (which delivers energy to the light on the switch of the heated seat rocker switch) found it's way to a ground and had me scratching my head for a while 'til I remembered I did in there. The wires are safely tucked away..so they're not the culprit now.... But what the heck could be? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
