You may know that Volvo and many others claim no service necessary for non-severe service...I and most owners would disagree. I my opinion you could easily service the screen every 30K and never think about it again. You can drain and fill (3.25- 3.5 quarts, about $7) with every other oil change and never have to 'flush' it. I'd bet 50K and drain/fill every third oil change would suffice.

Living in Connecticut (-3F to 100F) I only use non-synthetics.
