towing a trailer 1800

Power wise I'd say the ES would be up to the task, and although probablly better than a coupe, I don't think the 1800 series are as structurally sound as a 140 in the back. I'd be VERY careful... and yes, mounting a proper hitch won't likely be easy.

That said, I have done emergency rope tows with my rusty 1800 coupe tying off to both the rear bumper brackets, and had no problems...
