Car maintenance sans garage

Ask around-- I'm sure you'll find somebody who has a garage of their own-- if you're lucky, they'll have a floor jack and a couple stands!

Go to Harbor Freight and buy a cheap digital multimeter, 1/2 in deep metric impact sockets, a good 1/2 drive and an 18" breaker bar. Get a set of metric combo wrenches and a screwdriver set with interchangeable bits. It is handy to have a few prybars, a decent light and a 3lb hammer too. With these tools ($85 if you buy them on sale) you can tackle 90% of the repairs yourself!

Good luck!
