1988 245DL; Speedo Works; Odometer/Tripmeter Do Not 200

This problem may be buried in the archives, and I did a cursory search. But, it seems like a unique problem when one function works and the others do not. The archives are full of instrument and cable replacement posts, but I didn't see one addressing my problem

The speedometer funtion works, but my odometer and tripmeter do not. It is all driven off of one cable from the tranny, so I am guessing it is a gear inside the unit. Of course, I could replace the whole thing, but I am hoping that some of you Bricksters have a more innovative (and inexpensive) solution.

I saw this item on EBAY:
"New Volvo 240 86-93 speedometer odometer repair gear. This gear sometimes breaks or strips, it's a fairly common problem. 25 tooth gear has outside diameter about 7/16."

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
