Did I fry the cruise control? 200 1990

I fixed the temp compensator board, but made the fatal error of plugging in the red/white tach wire into the back of the instrument panel. The odometer is no longer working and neither is the cruise control. I figured out the problem and disconnected the wire before I turned on the cruise.

So will my cruise come back after I replace the instrument panel, or did I destroy that part also? If so what part must I replace - the control brain, or more?

Thanks.
