240 trailer hitch options

I'd like to install a trailer hitch on my '90 245, and am wondering if I have any options other than the standard Class II Drawtite/U-Haul style. I guess I'm just thinking that for what I'm looking to tow (a utility trailer for trash/brush hauling, maybe my motorcycle, small aluminum boat, etc.) I really don't need the 3500 lb capacity that the Class II provides. I'm thinking out of those planned towing scenarios, my motorcycle at 750 lbs is the heaviest. Plus to me the Drawtite is more of a truck look than what I want. Can't I just buy a straight or upward offset bar bolted to the bottom of the bumper and mount the ball to that?
